Printing Press Busted for Football Ticket Forgery

Cairo police officers were successful in busting a printing press in Al Qal’aa Street, which was involved printing a large number of counterfeit tickets for the Egypt vs. Algeria football match, taking advantage of the growing demand for such fake tickets through various outlets.
Major General Ismail Al Sha’er, Director of Cairo Security, issued strict instructions to the Cairo police to control the sale of counterfeit tickets and those sold in the black market. Major General Farooq Lachin, Director of the Cairo police initiated several crackdowns on such illegal activities and was able to detect 3 cases of counterfeiting and 21 cases of trading in the black market.
Several investigation officers also participated in the campaign—they succeeded in detecting 875 forged tickets worth 7464 pounds, which was in the possession of one of the defendants.
Two citizens of Mansoura partnered with the print house in Mohammad Ali Street, to print an amount of tickets by using modern equipment in imaging and printing. The printing press was seized, along with a scanner that was used in producing the counterfeit tickets.
